The Scarey Men are a Durham based “rock pop” outfit described by Radio’s Steve Lamaq as “rather quite good” when they appeared on BBC’s Man Lab show in 2011.
The band, two sets of brothers (Andy and Paul –vocals and guitars; Charlie and Gel-bass and drums), write their own material, were once signed to Polygram Publishing as songwriters for a stupidly large advance, split up and didn’t play together for 20 years pursuing careers as petrol station attendants, carers, council officials and graphic designers.
They returned to the stage for a one off 40th birthday party last year and liked it so much they started recording and writing again. They communicate via text and email and try not to play live as it creates too many arguments.
Troubled Road is their first new single since Simon Cowell told them to get out of his office when he ran A&R for BMG records in the early 90s.
