Track 1. THE PUPPET MASTER
Formed in 2009, MoonRunners are a female led indie/rock/alt punk/pop band from the North East of England. Their name stems from
the 1979 cult movie The Warriors, “the moonrunners" being one of the gangs from the film.
MoonRunners recently won "Student Band of the Year 2012" which has given them a spot at the "Beach Break Festival" this summer 2012.
Having recently supported the likes of Shaun Ryder and Canadian rock band The Trews, MoonRunners are excited to be opening for McFly on the Newcastle date of their "Keep Calm and Play Louder” in association with Ice Watch tour.
Signed to Teesside based independent record label, Satellite Records, MoonRunners debut single “Mirrors” will be released in April with further releases scheduled throughout 2012. A re-launch
of their YouTube channel will also see MoonRunners appearing on a new Sky TV Music Channel to be shown across Europe.
The MoonRunners are also supporting Bow Wow Wow at the Newcastle 02 Arena on the 28th April 2012, following that on the 6th May 2012. MoonRunners are taking part in the Crook Town Festival of Music (Indie Stage)
The band have recently finished recording a song called "The Fallen" which will be featured on the soundtrack of an Indo-British supernatural movie called Amy's Ghost due for release May 4th 2012. They are also currently recording another track called "The Puppet Master" which will be featured on the soundtrack of a Canadian teen horror/slasher movie called Consequences due for release Friday 13th July 2012.
The track "The Puppet Master" was mixed and mastered by Pete Dee the guitarist and producer for legendary punk band The Adicts
MoonRunners are also in discussion to use another of their songs for another independent movie that is to be filmed in Texas come August.
MoonRunners style has been compared to that of Paramore with lead singer Jordan having been likened to Hayley William’s style of voice. Others have commented on her singing style resembling
80’s artist Hazel O’Connor, others Debbie Harry, others Chrissie Hynde, and yet others state her voice resembles that of Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees, some PJ Harvey, some even Morrissey of The Smiths. The edgy appeal of MoonRunners
has led to them gaining BBC introducing airplay as well as being the number one downloaded song in the Strummerville download charts.
Satellite Records is the sister label connected to Vivid Records.
Satellite will mainly focus on releasing singles to give a platform for new and experimental artists in order to raise their profile and gain exposure. Satellite records endeavours to encourage experimentation and diversity which we hope will allow acts
freedom from preconceived restrictions and commercial pressures.
Satellite will work in conjunction with the artist to make their music available to a wider public.
